Unlike the other few viruses we’ve been describing this week, which all were all but almost harmless, the rotavirus is actually known as the big baddie in the world of pediatric medicine. It’s a not very well-known fact, that preceding the introduction of an effective vaccine, rotavirus was the top cause of diarrhea-related fatalities among the young children aged 0 to 6 in the US.
The chances are, that a very high percentage of parents who are reading this article have lived through measles as kids themselves, which makes it all more of a familiar disease. But let the stress be put aside for a moment, because if the case is that you’ve taken all the due precautions and ensured that your kids are up-to-date on their vaccines, you probably don’t have to worry about them getting measles.
